Eastern Southland Gallery : Paul Braddonrue

‘Haunts of Dickens’ is an exhibition of watercolours painted by British artist Paul Braddon (1864-1937), assembled to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens. Curated and toured by Dunedin Public Art Gallery, this collection was gifted by well-known New Zealand literary figure A. H. Reed to the Dunedin Public Library. The delicately rendered watercolours represent the actual buildings and streetscapes which inspired Dickens’ novels, ranging from Great Expectations to The Old Curiosity Shop.
