The Galley Fish & Chips Bluff NZ.

“The planets finest fish and chips” – Lonely Planet.

Galley Fish n Chips is a chance to try some of the best cod in South-land ( the loals all eat tehir so you know it must be good) and to ‘paua’ your respect to Jim & Mytle turtle whose famous Papua House is gone but not forgotten.

Fred and Myrtle Flutey built up their lifelong iconic paua collection which decorated their world famous home until Mr Flutey died in 2002 and Mrs Flutey in 2000.
The Fluteys’ grandson Ross Bowen bought the house and collection from the rest of the family, and was considering sending the shell collection to Canterbury Museum. In February 2002 , the house was however stripped of its more than 10,000 paua shells, to the annoyance of locals and stored in an unknown location with only a fraction ending up in the Canterbury Museum

.Today as you wait for some very very worth while fish and chips (moist fresh cod caught locally fresh crisp chips) you can see a small sample and get an idea of what truly eccentric the charming Fred and Mytle where and how they are still remembered for have the guts to dare and in doing so they made a world just a bit more lighter. Thanks Fred and Mytle RIP where ever you may be now
